I wanted to provide you an update regarding robbery, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Local community policing is a huge priority for us in the Met and the bedrock of how we police London. Over the last year we have seen the results of that, with strong reductions across the city in crimes like robbery, bike theft and burglary.
As your local Safer Neighbourhood Team, we thought it was a good opportunity to let you know the sorts of things your neighbourhood policing team will be up to this week:
• School personal safety talks • Robbery hotspot patrols • Bike registering event Shaftesbury and Queenstown Safer Neighbourhood Team will be out looking to gain information, scout the streets and work against the increasing motor vehicle crime in the area. These are just some of the things we will be doing this week but are examples of some of the work we do every day. Your neighbourhood team is embedded in your community and works around the clock to keep you safe. The range of issues we deal with is vast, from petty theft to complex offences and violence. They operate alongside ‘response teams’, who are the officers who turn up in an emergency if you dial 999. Tackling robbery is currently a key priority. We are taking a problem-solving approach to: • Identify crime patterns and methods • Understand root causes • Work collaboratively with partners such as the local council, businesses, and residents By working together, we aim to develop effective and creative solutions to reduce crime and improve safety across the ward. Thank you for staying in touch with us on Met Engage. We are here to help you - if there are issues that you think need to be addressed, please let us know.
Kind regards Shaftesbury and Queenstown Ward

We will continue to tackle robbery in your local area. While we are investigating and arresting those responsible, please consider following the below advice to keep yourself and your property safe: Do not leave your phone, tablet or other digital goods unattended, out of sight or on a table. Be aware of your surroundings and only use your phone when it is safe to do so. Put your phone away when you have finished using it. Secure your phone by choosing a strong pin or password Keep a note of your IMEU number (to access, type *#06# on your phone keypad) Plan your route, especially if you are going somewhere you have not been before. Keep to busy, well-lit streets and walkways. Move with purpose and appear confident.
If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. |
